Playing in the leaves

Now that there is a chill in the air it is easy to feel that fall is here. The weekend of this photo-shoot it was unseasonably warm, but it also made it easier to play in the leaves. We had fun with this shoot and is was really hard for me to not put all of my favorites in this post, there were so many! Technically I shot two rolls so I did sneak a few more in than normal.

We started inside for a classic toddler shot on the window seat. Mom had mentioned that she liked the shots with classic clothing, so I brought a few clothing options along for her to choose from. I also brought my Hasselblad along to get some medium format shots. I am so glad I did because we got some great shots inside as well as outside. With a regular roll of film you have up to 36 exposures, the medium format only has up to 12 exposures and is a bit trickier to use since it is totally manual. I love the old school look and feel it gives.

With a change of clothing and scenery we let this little guy go. He played in the leaves for a bit and then showed me how fast he could run. Then it was off to explore the rest of the yard with Mom and Dad. I wish I could have stayed and played, it was so nice out. Maybe next time!

It is never too early to start thinking about Christmas photos. Many families take full advantage of their photo shoots and use the photos for their Christmas cards. This mom thought ahead and got matching outfits for her three cuties and we took advantage of our historic carousel. I have to say the employees were accommodating to our mini-photo-shoot, but the music was so loud that the kids couldn’t hear a word I said. It really didn’t matter for the individual shots because I caught them enjoying the ride. We then walked down to the pond to finish the roll and let the kids check out the ducks. It was a chilly day, but perfect sweater weather!

Sweltering heat… when will it end?

I can honestly say that in the 11 years I have been doing this I haven’t had to battle such a heat that made a baby sweat! We had planned to do the shoot later in the evening, but of course the day of I checked the weather and they were calling for storms in the early evening. Trying to avoid the storm we moved the time up and battled the heat. Poor baby H didn’t really know what was going on or who I was because there wasn’t time to play and let him get to know me. He did let down his guard pretty fast and started showing me a little personality. We had to get thru it fast before we all melted! Check out this little guy and his beautiful family!

I have a new camera, and with a new camera comes new options!!! This Hasselblad is a classic medium-format camera. It can tell a different story thru the photos it produces.

What does 90 plus degrees + two six year olds and one three year old =? Potential disaster. Thank goodness kids are resilient! I was drenched with sweat by the end of this photo shoot and these three hardly showed any signs of the heat! I had fun with this one. These three are cousins and grandma B wanted photos of her and the grandkids. I was able to capture some cute moments. The three year old is totally enamored with his big cousin. And even though it isn’t ‘cool’ to smile already at 6 years old, I caught a few moments that showed he liked the attention from his little cousin. And as for big sister, I didn’t even have to work for her. She already had poses practiced that she wanted me to capture! Too cute!

White Pickett Fence

Last Saturday turned out to be beautiful. I was ok with the sun not coming out but I was hoping that it would warm up a little. I had a photo shoot in the morning, it could of been a little warmer for the little tykes that I was shooting.

The sun did come out Saturday afternoon and it lit this setting just perfectly. These photos were to celebrate big sisters birthday. We even went out for ice-cream after because they were so good!

Once again she had the baby within days of our photo shoot. Baby S was born 4 days after our photo shoot and this time Baby T was born 3 days after! Want to have the baby just book your maternity shoot with me, not too early though. I don’t want to be the cause of preterm labor! I have been there myself and it is not fun!

This was a fun shoot. As you can see it was multi-generational and baby was such an easy baby! He looked like his brother with dark hair (baby S was blond as a newborn). I’ll be excited to see how he changes as he grows. If big brother is any indication he will not only be cute, he will be sweet too!

Mom wanted photos of these two adorable girls together… just on time for Christmas. I love to see a little girl so proud to be a big sister. And the pouty lips on this baby are to die for! I can’t wait for this weekend; if it snows we are going to go take photos of them with Santa!

I have been very lucky to take photos of this family for their Christmas cards for many years. It is fun to watch these kids grow up! And can I just say, why do the boys always get the long pretty eyelashes?!?
